In October the mullet come down the coast and a feeding frenzy ensues in our coast, inlets, and in Fort Lauderdale’s back canals. In the winter the shrimp run and action can be just as hot. Mixed in with snook and tarpon are snappers, groupers, sheapshead, barracudas, permit, and other fish that can surprise you.
Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing charters heat up in the summer bringing in dolphin, blackfin tunas, and kingfish. These fish can be targeted within 2 miles off the Ft. Lauderdale coast. A little farther offshore the dolphin, swordfish, wahoos, and occasional other billfish make their showing.
Fall brings wahoo to the Fort Lauderdale coast. These fish show up on there move south with the best bite occurring around the full and new moon. Kingfish also make a showing on the reef along with the southern migration of dolphin offshore.
Winter time is prime time for sailfish off of Fort Lauderdale. This fish are migrating south and the bite can be phenomenal. Each passing cold front brings waves of sailfish past our coast. Ft. Lauderdale fishing charters can expect up to 20 fish in a day when the fish really come through. Winter time conditions limit our offshore trips but swordfish remain offshore year-round and if weather allows some of the best fishing occurs when others shy away from the rougher seas.
