Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report, Fort Lauderdale Sailfishing

Fort Lauderdale Sailfishing

The past week in South Florida the wind has blown and blown. For us that means kite fishing and sailfish. We have been targeting the fish from Fort Lauderdale to Boca Raton and bite has been great. There have only been a few days that we couldn't fish and when we could we were averageing 4 fish per half day. The best trip was a week ago when we caught 7 fish then IDA came by and the fishing slowed slightly or maybe we fished less.
Mixed in with the sailfish we caught a good amount of dolpin from 5-15lbs. The dolphin came through in packs and seemed to be moving fast so you had to catch them while you had the chance.
We also caught kingfish on the reef, and they were the biggest we have caught in a month or two. Kingfish from 10-25lbs were biting from 100-200ft of water.
The mullet run seems to have slowed slightly or maybe I haven't been paying as much attention to them. I did run one trip fishing the mullet before the wind started to blow and we caught snook, tarpon and jacks. All the action was around the mullet schools on the beaches and in the intracoastal.
