Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report, Fort Lauderdale Sailfishing

Fort Lauderdale Sailfishing

We are in sailfish full swing here in Fort Lauderdale. With each cold front that comes we are having more and more pushes of sailfish coming through. The past two weeks we have seen at least one shot a day and up to 5 in a 2 hour period. The good news is that the afternoons have been just as good as the mornings so you have just as good of a shot on an afternoon charter as you do the mornings.
The dolphin have been here one day and gone the next. We have been running offshore of Ft. Lauderdale looking for dolphin and there have been a few around. Most are on the smaller side offshore. During thanksgiving week we caught a few on the reef from 3-30lbs and they should return when we have a more northerly wind as we will the end of this week.
The kingfish off Ft. Lauderdale have been the most consistent fishing we have had. Most trips we are having between 6-12 bites with most of those resulting in fish in the boat. The fish have ranged from 10-25lbs. It should only be a little while before we have some consistent action on bigger fish. I have heard of a few giant fish being caught already.
The wreck fishing has slowed though there were a few cobias caught last week as well as a few muttons and groupers.
A lot of small swordfish have been around which has resulted in a lot of slashed bait but not a lot of fish caught. We ran three trips in the last week, one got rained out, one was a strike out, and the other we caught one small fish and a pulled hook on another smaller fish. Thats swordfishing with the next front it could be all giant fish. We were fishing from North Miami to Fort Lauderdale.
